    When ever there are opposing views in scripture one must use other scriptrure verses to separate truth from error. There are enough scripture verses to show that the second view you mention, of once saved always saved, is a heresy. A person who is washed in the redemptive blood of Christ can not continue in sin, if they do it is a sure sign that justification has not occured and they remain unsaved. Continuation in sin makes a mockery of Christs sacrifice, to teach that a person can live boldly in sin and remain a Christian clashes with to many verses for any but false teachers to promote the concept.
    Verses to consult: Mat 5:39-48; 6:24; 7:13-28; 16:24-28; Mark 4:1-20; Luke 6:27-36,46; 9:23-24; 10:16; 13:23-24; John 4:2; 5:42-44; 8:42-47; 14:21; 15:9-10,18-25; Acts 8:15-17; Romans 2:13; 16:17-19; 1Cor. 2:14; 5:9-13; 15:2; 2 Cor. 6:14-18; 10:3-5; 2 Cor. 11:14-15; Gal. 1:6-10;
    Eph. 5:1-21; Phil. 3:17-20; Col. 3:1-9; 1 Thess. 4:7-8; 2 Thess. 1:8; 2:15; 3:6; 1 Tim. 6:3-5;
    2Tim. 4:2-4; Titus 1:16; Heb. 6:4-6; James 1:22-23; 2 Pet. 2:1-4,20-21; 3:15-17;
    1 John 1:6-8; 2:3-6,15,19,22; 4:1,6; 5:3; 2 John 6,9-11; Jude 4,18-19; Rev. 14:12.

    I agree. The greatest damage the Once Saved, Always saved doctrine can do is put a person to sleep. And they will not be ready to meet the Lord when He comes. Jesus said, "Watch and pray." and "What I say unto you, I say unto all, watch." This is a clear indication that we stand in jeopardy every hour. If there were no Satan, I suppose one could sit back and take his ease. But the reality shows that Satan is very active in this land, especially in Christian circles...
