I find ever more that society and the modern church blend their views together, picking parts of the Bible they would rather follow than others and perhaps, likely, I am just as guilty. I long for more however and have a view that differs greatly from those in my surroundings. In many ways I see this as beneficial, God has made me strong through adversity and confrontation, debate. In other ways I feel trapped.
It is very difficult for me to find a community that values closeness to the same degree that I myself do, and those few individuals who subscribe to my same beliefs do not seem as active in pursuing changes in their life to accommodate that kind of community.
With my traditional values seemingly more and more an obstacle when compared against those of the general populace, I wonder if a community like yours is the answer.
To raise a family in close community with a properly guided education seems the unatainable thing in today's society.
I read your information on this website but I am still left wondering. What would life be like in such a community? What kind of restrictions does a person meet? How are differing views on Biblical doctrine dealt with in regards to the private home? Obviously a very traditional perspective is taken, but to what extent?
As for what life would be like in such a community, I cannot answer on your behalf, nor do we wish to paint a superficial picture of how rosy it is. But if Jesus Christ and the glory of God is our only goal, this way of life can be very rewarding. However, if a child of God has all the answers, and doctrines and idealism is more important than to love and lay down our lives for our fellow man, community can be a heavy burden.
There are very few restrictions in our fellowship. We expect the "law of the Spirit of Life" to convict and guide a child of God into all truth. Restrictions only make good pharisees. Yes, we have restrictions for our children and youth, but once Jesus Christ is Lord of an individual, the way we work, what we wear, watch, listen to, read, eat and even think is simply the manifestation of the depth of a person's love and devotion to Jesus Christ. Because if a person loves Jesus Christ, he loves his brother and sister. 1John 5:1 says; Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of Him. So if we love Him who begat us, we will not harm or hurt or offend those begotten of Him, but endeavour to build, plant, and persue love and unity with our fellow members in the body of Christ.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbor, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law, the Bible teaches. This may be restrictive in a sense, but it is dependant entirely upon the condition of our hearts.
God bless, and hope this helps.
